Christmas seems to be sneaking up on us really quickly this year. It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago that I was searching for Barbie playsets and dolls for my little girl for last Christmas, and although she still loves her Barbie’s and plays with them every day, this year she wants LEGO. Which got me thinking……. Do they even make LEGO suitable for a 3 year old?
I have no idea how this new obsession started but she now loves anything to do with LEGO and is not really interested in much else for Christmas…….. well, unless it’s Dora, Monster High, Ever After High or DC superhero girls lol, but you can buy DC superhero girls LEGO and Monster High mega bloks (which is the same thing to my little girl) so I’ll probably get some of these as well as the normal LEGO, or more importantly “LEGO Friends” sets that she wants.
Most LEGO is aimed towards aged 6 and upwards with some being 8+ so this caused me a bit of a problem to start with as even though she’s ok with small parts, she’s still only 3 and I wasn’t happy with the amount of small parts as I know they’d just end up getting lost.
LEGO has done a range suitable for 2-5 year olds called LEGO Duplo but the bricks aren’t compatible with normal LEGO so I wasn’t keen on this option as my little girl really wants the same LEGO as my little sisters and I’d rather buy her sets that she’s not going to outgrow anytime soon. So I started doing some more research for LEGO suitable for a 3 year old and that’s when I found LEGO Juniors.
LEGO Juniors are basically the same as normal LEGO apart from part of the set has already been made up so there are simpler instructions, fewer bits to add to make the set and therefore fewer small parts to get lost. The sets are aimed towards children 4 years and over which makes them perfect for my little girl as she’ll be 4 just a few short months after Christmas. Even if you have a little girl who’s closer to 3 than 4 I still think these would be a good buy if they are ok with smaller parts and you want something that will last them for years to come.
Here are some of the best sets that I found:
LEGO Juniors Andrea & Stephanie’s beach holiday
LEGO Juniors Mia’s vet hospital
LEGO Juniors Disney Snow Whites Forest Cottage
LEGO Juniors Disney Princess Cinderella’s Carriage
LEGO Juniors Mia’s farm suitcase
LEGO Juniors Anna & Elsa’s Frozen Playground
LEGO Juniors Emma’s Ice Cream Truck
LEGO Juniors Stephanie’s Horse Carriage
I love all these sets, especially the Disney ones as I think they are so cute. My little girl keeps going on about LEGO Friends though so so far I have got her the LEGO Juniors Andrea & Stephanie’s beach holiday one as I think she’ll like the fact that it has a slide and a boat as well as two figures for her to play with. The Cinderella one is still on my radar for Christmas too though. All the other sets I’ve listed can be found here.
If you were considering buying LEGO for your own little girl, or even if you weren’t, I hope I’ve given you a few ideas here of LEGO suitable for a 3 year old. Please let me know in the comments if you do decide to get one of these sets or which one is your favourite from my picks as I’d love to know.
