Yesterday we had a lovely trip to Palace Theatre, Paignton to watch Peter and The Wolf performed by the Goblin children’s theatre company. The weather was miserable so it was the perfect #rainydayactivity.
The show started off with Peter waking up Grandad at the campsite. Grandad told Peter that he should stick to the camp and not go off exploring as the woods are a dangerous place.
But when Grandad went off hunting for wolves, Peter had a visit from some of the animals and decided to follow one of them into the woods. In the woods, Peter met a wolf who explained to Peter that you shouldn’t judge people without finding out for yourself what they are like first and that just because one animal or person is bad, it doesn’t mean that they are all the same.
Peter and the wolf became friends and Peter went off to tell his Grandad everything he had learnt and that they don’t need to be scared anymore. Grandad listened to Peter and decided to stop trying to keep everyone out and to instead invite everyone to a party.
Each character was represented by a different sound and there was lots of dancing and singing, with the audience being encouraged to join in too.
The show taught children to not be scared of animals by explaining (all through song) what their role is and their importance within the circle of life (without sounding too ‘Hakuna Matata’ because, after all, it was Peter & the Wolf, not The Lion King 😂).
We really enjoyed the show and my little girl loved being able to get involved, shouting out and joining in with the dancing.
You can find out what else is on at the Palace Theatre, Paignton over the holidays on their Facebook page.
*We were invited as guests to watch the show but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
