Car boot haul

I love bargains and car boots are one of my favourite places to find them.

I have to admit that they aren’t always good for me though as quite often I will buy something because it’s a ‘bargain’ rather than because I actually need it. This I really need to work on.

Last weekend the weather was really nice so I got up early and went over to the car boot at newton abbot racecourse and it didn’t disappoint as it was the busiest I’ve seen it.

I always look for clothes and shoes for my little girl when I go to car boots, in her size and the next size, so that I’m always stocked up and ready for any sudden growth spurts. But as well, this week I was looking out for a bedside lamp as mine had broken and anything Barbie or Monster High as my little girls birthday is coming up.

Here’s what I found:

The books and the small Barbie were 50p each. Cinderella, Mermaid Barbie and the two Monster High dolls were £1 each. The Fairy Princess Barbie at the top was £2.50 and I got the four Barbie dvds for £5.

One of these dolls if brought new would cost the same as all of this put together. And apart from the Monster High dolls having no shoes, they are all in perfect condition so I’m so happy with these finds. Everything apart from the books are being kept for my little girls birthday and I know she will love them all.

I only found a couple of clothes for my little girl this week but I did find a dressing up outfit so that was a bonus.

Top (Primark) – 50p, leggings (George at Asda)  – 50p. Denim dress (Next) – £1 and Dressing up outfit (TU at Sainsburys) – £1.80.

This week i actually found some clothes for me too which is rare as i don’t usually bother looking.

Top left – Blue and white striped maxi dress (River Island) – £1 and plain blue cardigan (New Look) – 50p.

Top middle – White lacy top with sheer sleeves (M&S Collection) – 50p.

Top right – Black dress with white spots (Topshop) – 50p and creamy coloured cardigan (Great Plains London) – 50p.

Bottom Left – High waisted jeans (Next) – £1.50.

Bottom right – Sheer cream jacket with black bows (Primark) – 50p.

All these mostly big name brands for only £5 is ridiculous!

And lastly I found the perfect bedside lamp for me for only £1.

Overall I spent £23.30 which is more than I’d usually spend, but it was totally worth it as my little girls got some lovely bits for her birthday and I’ve got some new summer clothes. I could never justify buying all this new, that’s why I’m like a kid in a candy shop at a car boot.

Does anyone else love a good car boot?

Let me know in the comments some of the best bargains you’ve found.

  1. So, I figured out a “car boot” is what we call rummage sales, garage sales, and yard sales in the States. I LOVE a great sale where items go for $1 or less. Having two little girls at home, I find the thriftiest ways to dress them for less. Great finds!

    1. Lol yes they are like giant yard sales. Kids just grow out of things too quick, or ruin them too easily for me to be able to jutify spending loads on just 1 thing from a regular shop x
